Cardigans in Summer
After a life time of collecting cardigans, I decided it was time to take the best features and design the perfect cardigan. They are knitted from the wool of a Peruvian Highland sheep.
The Rosalita dress
The Rosalita dress was inspired by the Rosa jacket which has roots in Eastern European workwear. I am wearing mine as a spring coat for this fresh weather.
the thorn dress
This dress was inspired by traditional Mexican shapes. The only exception is the neckline, although the traditional huipil blouses did not have a curved neckline.
how sula ss20 was created
When I started to think about ss20, it was actually spring in 2019. After a re-watch of Frida the movie, I became interested in the square shapes and deceptively simple garments worn by Kahlo.
sula SS19 photoshoot
The shoot was a great success despite the baking sun shining over us, we giggled, ate delicious food and got excited about how great the clothes looked.
the clean shirt
Clean shirt is easy, hard wearing and stylish, made from Japanese washi cloth which is from the pulp of the gampi tree, mitsumata and kozo bush. Made by hand it involves an intricate process.
the sweep dress
The sweep Dress was inspired by Alison’s desire to create the perfect dress. Care, time and intricate work is a the heart of our ethos at sula though not without its difficulties.
BTS of aw19 photoshoot
It was bitingly cold outside. Luckily there was a wonderful wood burning stove. Fanta could warm her toes on it after posing for shots on the freezing cold beach outside.
inspired by vintage cloth
In Vietnam our production team have been busy marking up the cloth for cutting and stitching. Meanwhile, by the sea, we are cutting final pieces of material and checking patterns.
the creation of SS18
We have had a really fun day working on the SS18 collection, picking out fabrics and colours, trying on all of the clothes. Choir dress has absolutely tonnes of drawn thread work and tiny gathers.

“What’s the hardest part?
The supply chain is very long and sometimes things are simply out of my hands — and things sometimes do go wrong.”
sula photography
Take a look at this interview with Aaron Joel Santos, we have worked with Aaron on every one of our photo shoots over the last 5 years. We love what he has said about sula!
