Behind the scenes SS16 shoot

We found our dressing room, adorned with an old rope hanging amongst the dusty sackcloth and drying workers clothes of a 400 year old spice store. The colours of the room were amazing.

Alison and Archana share the same intensity in their approach to their work, not pausing for a moment until they have found the right combination of threads, beads and buttons.

Sula for all ages.

Karen is 52 and Celeste her daughter is only 19. They have both been wearing Sula stuff for years, when Celeste was tiny she ran around in Sula blouses which came down to her feet.

We have some of our production done in Delhi and we went to visit to check in on process, we loved seeing the Delhi marigolds while we were there.

Helen’s Story

Ten years ago I met Alison Taylor and Sula. Sula’s gorgeous clothes fit perfectly in to my lifestyle. I will happily be wearing Sula for the rest of my days!

I have been working with Artist and Photographer Maga Esberg on a series of portraits of women who wear Sula. This is a sneak preview of a selection of portraits of Helen Mary Stronge.

The scroom sweater is made from wool which we found from a factory in the north of england which has now sadly closed. We found the finishings in Chandni Chowk market in old Delhi.

We are making Scroom sweaters for iconic New York Store ABC Home. there is a Metal and pearl trim as well as the side zips, these were found in Chandni Chowk market in Delhi

Our beautiful fabrics all around the studio, hand painted backdrops which you will see used in our photographs, like with our clothes there is hidden corners of beauty everywhere you look.

At the moment we are dying fabric and mixing colours. After much experimentation, when we are happy with the swatch, it then goes to the dye house to be copied.

I am talking a lot about my trip to India, it was so amazing it might just go on for a while yet. I was very inspired by what I saw, here are some photos I took.
