cotton gingham dress. This easy cotton gingham dress has an elasticated bodice and raw edges around the neck, sleeves and hem. It has a light cotton lining and pockets in the side seams. The Japanese gingham is slightly seersucker. I began some research about gingham and found this interesting link in anothermag which traces the history of gingham in western fashion. However gingham originated in Malaysia and did not make its way to Europe until the 17th century.
