alby is sula’s uk agent. her business – called woven agency – specialises in representing high-end, sustainable, slow fashion brands. each season she sells our collection from her london showroom.
alby also owns a brighton based boutique – called woven store – where she sells sula. before setting up her own business in 2010, she worked for the body shop, next, jigsaw and igigi.
when she started out, alby had to work hard to educate buyers about the value, including story telling, of her brands. since covid, when many people reassessed their personal values and priorities, the market has expanded considerably. in her own store she ensures that each sula item will team with at least 5 items from other brands to create entirely distinctive looks for her clients.
the day we meet, alby has come to buy two more flower shirts and even more indigo pants, the latter our all-time top seller. personally, alby favours sula’s more boyish items, notably the indigo pants and loose shirts. her daughter tilda, now in her 20s, still wears the sula silk bodice she was given in her early teens. alby says she loves alison’s, “care and attention to detail and her business ethos – both gentle, yet strong.”
