following our photoshoot for aw25 last week, we would love to show you some of our favourite clothes as well as behind the scenes images of the shoot.

Our photoshoot took place at our beloved studio in the midst of a working port just outside of brighton. our sewing machine and pattern cutting tables pushed to the side making space for photographer Will Morgan to set up using a gorgeous mauve grey backdrop.

we have named this collection ‘English weather’ though we could probably be more specific as the colours seem to be drawn directly from our studio window. we have the heating up high, drink our tea black and gaze out the window at the blustering wind flapping through the boat sails and the brave dog walkers hair. the greeny grey sea, changing throughout the day until at dusk it takes on the solid silver reflection of the sky. when the sun goes down the sea below is an oily black pool lit by street lights. it is unsurprising that the port outside our windows has influenced aw25 so directly as we adore our surroundings. the way the English weather has influenced the collection reminds us of the workings of a pin hole camera, the watery landscape outside pooling into onto the studio and filling our rail with spruce green, twilight blue, dark navy, coal black and crystal grey.

‘English weather’ is characterised by luxurious – for everyday and special occasion wear –  artisanal fabrics sourced mostly from Italy and Japan. A wispy organza (sheer silk) with a printed design of tiny geometric flowers is made into blouses, skirts and a dress with raw edged detailing. The dress comes with a sheer bias-cut silk slip, the skirt with a snug khadi cotton lining. They are offered in coal/crystal grey and eggnog/crystal grey colourways.

we have a new range of hand-loomed cardigans for aw25, vests and scarves, offered in alpaca and cashmere in gorgeous colour combinations, feature an abstracted daisy motif. The modern floral theme extends to printed silk and cotton mix fabrics, unique to Sula, employed for blouses and to line luxury padded silk coats.

we love the idea of creating clothes which have beauty held close by the wearer, secret little moments just for you. The most beautiful floral silk cotton used as a lining for our cuddle coat, hidden to the world until the wind blows and a corner flips up revealing the bright joyful flowers. in a slower moment we imagine you might check the inside of your cuff to remind yourself of the charm which waits there just for you.

A finely woven cotton twill fabric, similar to that worn by the land girls of the 1940’s, offered in tobacco, black and spruce green comes in modern jackets and trousers with workwear references visible in the silhouettes.

we have used the softest Japanese cotton jersey for double layered for T-shirts. they have a straight high neck and an elegant skimming fit.

One – ultra-luxurious – black silk cotton mix fabric called crocconte has been woven in Italy. We have made it into a lean, super flattering, long dress with long sleeves, featuring raw edges and a double waist tape; a fitted shirt with a hand embroidered cubist design on the collar and cuffs (that took one skilled worker four hours to hand-embroider); trousers and a striking new, long and roomy jacket with three welt pockets with large flaps.
